Oracle tools

Oracle LMS uses these primary tools: the Oracle Collection Tool and the Global Deployment Matrix. Designed and built by Oracle, these tools are completely complimentary to use and can provide you with a detailed assessment of your Oracle software deployments.

• The Oracle Collection Tool is a series of operating system and SQL queries that run in your Oracle estate and collect Oracle product usage information. The outputs are human-readable, so you have visibility into the information shared, and will be analyzed to illustrate what Oracle programs are installed and/or in use.
• The Global Deployment Matrix is an online form that gives you guidance on how to catalog and provide an overview of the Oracle programs in use.

Vendor tools

Customers often choose to work with third-party software asset management tool vendors to support them with their overall software asset management strategies. Third-party tool vendors offer customers independence, experience, flexibility, and in-house tooling capabilities that can support the management of an Oracle environment.

Oracle’s partnerships with third-party tool vendors include verification that their tools provide accurate Oracle usage data, so customers can have confidence that any verified tools they’re using will accurately collect software deployment information related to Oracle products. Further, Oracle reserves the right to update the list of approved third-party tool vendors (by adding or deleting any tool vendor) without notice to help ensure our customers have the appropriate tools to measure their Oracle usage. It’s important to note that the scope of the verification process only covers a tool’s usage data related to specific Oracle products. Once the usage data has been extracted, the customer will work with their tool vendor and LMS consultant to create an analysis. Tools from the following vendors have been verified to provide accurate software usage data for the following products; however, please ensure you’re using the correct version of the vendor’s tool, which you can confirm with the vendor.
